Town of Barrington - Town Administrator's page

The 2010 Budget Process kicked off last month with our directive set to keep the budget within the 2009 Default Budget amount approved by the voters in March of this year.  The Board of Selectmen and I have concerns that the state will continue to fall short of their revenue sharing estimates for municipalities, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the tax rate.  In 2010, all of the state revenue sharing will cease leaving municipalities with a larger deficit on their hands.  The uncertainty surrounding the state's and our ability to find new revenue streams suggests that again the taxpayer will be affected.  The Town is very concerned about this constant down-shifting of the deficit and we hope that the state legislature will take note and take action.

The Department Heads and I have met the Board's directive and presented a proposed 2010 budget with certain Warrant Articles that is a $1,138 DECREASE over the 2009 default budget. The Budget as presented does not include any wage or benefits changes for any town employee.  The Board of Selectmen will hold review sessions over the next several Wednesdays [please check our calendar] with the first Public Review scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2009 at 6:30 PM.  A copy of the proposed budget is available for review at the Public Library and at the Selectmen's Office during business hours.  A copy of the 2010 proposed budget without supporting documentation is available for downloading or review by clicking on the document below. We welcome your input and look forward to seeing you at our review sessions.  Plese feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the budget process  by calling 664-7395.   PLEASE CHECK THE GOVERNMENT CALENDAR FOR MEETING DATES FOR THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN AND ADVISORY BUDGET COMMITTEE AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE BUDGET PROCESS.

2008 VENDOR HISTORY REPORT -Click link below to review a list of the bills processed through our Accounts Payable system.  This list represents all payments EXCEPT payroll and covers fiscal year 2008. Vendors are listed alphabetically and if a duplicate vendor name is listed it is because that business has more than one contact address.
